All registered seafarers: physical examination:

  • Licensed Crewmembers (STCW)
  • International Certificate of Competence (ICC)

Seafarer with look-out or watch duties:

 

  • Eye test
  • Hearing test (Audiogram)
  • 2-yearly

The examination consists of:

 

  • Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ, link provided on our website)
  • General Physical Examination
  • General Mental Assessment
  • Urine test (at location)
  • If necessary, additional blood
  • or stool analysis
  • Eye test:
  • Visual acuity test
  • If you wear glasses or contact lenses, bring your spare glasses
  • Refraction assessment (a.o. near vision)
  • Eye movement testing
  • Diplopia testing
  • Manual visual field testing
  • Colour vision testing
  • Hearing test:
  • Otoscopic examination
  • Audiometry

Please write down all medications you are taking in the PHQ On indication, in doubt or if set in medical examination requirements: requesting medical information and specialist reports or requesting additional specialist tests

When physical abnormalities have been found, in doubt or in special circumstances an examination by an appointed ENT specialist will be necessary Seafarers who have undergone medical examinations at MediBoeg previously, will automatically be invited for future examinations.

A compulsory medical examination for tuberculosis for people not travelling or originating from a (high) risk area is no longer required as from 1 October 2015. A medical examination for tuberculosis is no longer specifically mentioned in the Seafarer medical certificate.

Compulsory medical examinatiofor tuberculosis is still in effect for people travelling of originating from a (high) risk area.
